Some Say It Was World Class
The heroes of Morpeth travelled south to take on Hild Bede on Saturday.
After a closely contested first 15 minutes where neither team had a clear cut chance it took a laser guided pass from Sander to pick out Gayner unmarked in the D with time to calmly slot it past the bede keeper.
The remainder of the half provided little oportunity for either side and half time came with Morpeth 1 goal to the good.
Morpeth came out firing in the second half with much greater movement and slicker passing. Reward for this soon came when a rare pass from Gareth Mellor in the D found Gayner again who once again eased it past the helpless Bede keeper. Bede continued to press for a goal and were only kept at bay by some smart saves from Stewart and some brick wall esque defending from Carlyon and Malecki's head.
Morpeth shifted the ball swiftly for the third going from one end of the pitch to the other in only a handful of passes. The final pass coming from a strong drive across the D from minty which found a leaping Gayner who at full stretch got a decisive touch which completed a well earned hat-trick.
The play was later described from one onlooker as 'WORLD CLASS'.
With Hild Bede pressing to get on the scoreboard Morpeth broke and found a seemingly lost Yordoff who was all alone in the Hild Bede half. Tordoff who has recovered from a mouth injury rounded the keeper and calmly slotted Morpeth's 4th under some pressure from the scrambling Bede defence.
Morpeth hope to maintain performances like this in the coming weeks.
