Strong Words Ensured a Strong Start

An early start saw the lads heading south. Strong (but cryptic) pre game words from Shaf demanded a strong start and an early short corner

It was not long before he got what he asked for. Put wide by Sanders.

Still a good start and put good pressure on the Stockton goal. It was not long before the pressure lead to another short put away by Shaf. Shortly followed by some silky skills from Luke down the left and one two with Calder's and reverse hit saw Luke put the ball back of the net for his 1st.

Sadly this positive start was not to everyone's liking and during a scuffle in the Morpeth D, Ash Whitehead decides to give Stockton a hand and score an own goal (this part of the match report was missed out by the author Ash).

Just before half time Luke got his second, a scrappy finish to see Morpeth going in to half time 3 -1 up.

Another short Corner saw Shaf deliver a ball to Jack, for him to fire the ball at the bottom left, taking a deflection off a defender's stick to lift it over the now floored keeper's kicker. 4-1.

Stockton where awarded a short corner after the umpire picked up on an innocuous foot outside the D. Their ex england international slid a drag flick between Steve's stick side and his post man. 4 -2. With their newly found confidence Stockton pushed forward. A free hit was awarded; as Morpeth prepaird to take it, the umpire signalled it was the other way. Stockton took it quickly, wrong footing our defence and scored. Making an interesting final five minutes.

In the dying seconds of the game Stockton drove in to the D. After a goal mouth scramble the stockton umpire missed a clear Stockton foot and then spotted Shaf shielding the ball with the back of his stick and awarded a short corner. What would have been a very unjust end to the game was avoided when to two umpires confered and the foot was spoted.

The game finishing 4-3 to Morpeth. A scary end which in reality did not reflect Morpeth greater control of the game. Another victory from Morpeth and another 3 pionts taking us higer up the league. Notable performances from luke silky skils Hudson. Dan Marauding James and Jake the distorter Tordoff.
